High Speed Wireless Network - Rural Arizona

12/16/2004, Broadband Wireless Business Magazine CellularOne Orders Ceragon's Radios CellularOne of Arizona has ordered approximately $1.3 million worth of fixed wireless equipment from Ceragon Networks Ltd. The equipment will be used to expand CellularOne's service to its rural customers, enabling cellular backhaul and broadband wireless access applications. CellularOne's network will use Ceragon's FibeAir 1500P radio, which will provide OC-3 speeds, as well as connectivity over distances of up to 26 miles. The system will operate over the 18 GHz frequency band. CellularOne's network will also use Ceragon's FibeAir 4858 system for operation in an unlicensed band. The FibeAir 4858 will be used to provide Ethernet and T-1 connections. The deployment of Ceragon's equipment is expected to begin before the end of the month.

TeleSpectra

TeleSpectra, Arizona's largest wireless broadband network service provider is now offering Broadband Internet Access throughout Arizona. With a network of several thousand licensed microwave paths, TeleSpectra utilizes its licensed digital microwave network to connect cities and towns in rural Arizona with metropolitan based services including Internet Service Provider (ISP) backbones, managed and hosted services. TeleSpectra operates on frequencies of 4, 6, 8, 11, 18 and 23 GHz. The 230-site/node network reaches over 140 rural communities within Arizona and many other communities within New Mexico, Nevada, Southern California and Colorado.

May 2003 - TeleSpectra, Arizona's largest wireless broadband network service provider, was awarded a $1.3 million grant by the Rural Utilities Service as one recipient of the Community?Connect Broadband Grant program. The grants purpose is to deliver Broadband Internet Access to Wellton, Arizona. Wellton is a small town located in Yuma County, Arizona with a population of 1829 people according to the 2000 census.

The grant will provide funding for the implementation of a broadband telecommunications network. The network will provide the Town of Wellton with broadband access to major Internet Service Providers (ISP's) and Application Service Providers (ASP's) located in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, the network will provide Wellton with broadband connectivity to Yuma, Arizona, a city with which Wellton has strong social, economic and educational ties. The town of Wellton, its residents, schools, medical services, law enforcement agency and local businesses will be able to avail themselves of Internet connections having the same speed and quality of access available in major metropolitan areas.

WazTempe is the first and only provider of Metro-Scale, Outdoor WiFi service in Tempe. As such, WAZ is deploying a Metro-Scale Mesh Network that will deliver 95% coverage of the Downtown Tempe in three "phases." Phase-One, currently covers the South East Sector.
