Wireless service is dependent upon "line of sight" between one of the primary antennas for Internet Revealed and our member. Basically, if you can see the top of the Peterson Paper Company Building downtown Davenport or the top of the Bank One building downtown Moline from your location, you can get wireless connectivity. See graphic for example. Service and pricing to each location is significantly different at this time since each location uses a different technology. Our Davenport location uses Cisco equipment whereas our Moline location uses Alvarion BreezeAccess II.

Speeds with wireless equipment are a tricky thing. Most wireless equipment is defined by its broadcast frequencies (10mhz, 5mhz, 2mhz etc). However, the broadcast frequencies do not necessarily reflect actual throughput of the equipment. We charge based on approximate throughput of the equipment. The Cisco Equipment used at the Davenport location are 512kbps, 1mbps or 2mbps (although occasional higher throughput speeds are possible and not restricted when choosing the 2mbs speed).. Throughput for the BreezeCom equipment range from 256kbps to 2 mbps.

December 10, 2004 TowerStream Expands Its Pre-WiMAX Chicago Coverage Wireless ISP (WISP) TowerStream said Thursday that it has added to its wireless broadband coverage in Chicago by adding an antenna on the top of the John Hancock Center in downtown Chicago. The company installed an antenna on the Aon Center on the south side of Chicago's downtown area in March; the John Hancock Center is on the north end the downtown area. In a statement, TowerStream said it has "hundreds" of enterprise customers in the Chicago areas. While TowerStream uses pre-WiMAX equipment, it says it will upgrade to certified WiMAX equipment when it is available.
